San Francisco Bay Area Theater Reviews

Jersey Boys

Palo Alto Players

The Cast

Let it be known by anyone and everyone who has seen once, twice, or a dozen times Jersey Boys in New York, London, or on touring stages throughout the country and abroad that seeing the 2005, multi-Tony-award-winning juke-box hit one more time in a locally produced, smaller stage setting is maybe even better — especially when in the hands of a company like Palo Alto Players that year in, year out excels in producing their own award-worthy musicals.  With voices that swoon, croon, glide, and glow and with movements of hips, heads, single fingers and total torsos synchronized with split-second speed, the Palo Alto Players cast is wowing from beginning to end.  Along the way, the engaging, documentary-style story of the ups and downs of The Four Seasons (book by Marshall Brickman and Rick Elice) continues to be compelling whether on the first or the fifth hearing.  And who does not want to hear again and again the thirty-plus songs (Bob Gaudio, music, and Bob Crewe, lyrics) that sold over 175 million records before any of the original Seasons were thirty years old?

Please continue to Talkin’Broadway for the rest of my review.
